After turning eighteen, she began hearing a certain voice. Unable to tell who it was, she was assured it was her doom, talking to her day and night, appearing in her dreams and calling her his babygirl while she called him a beast. An unfortunate event and everything took a twist before Miranda collided with an Alpha, the ruler of the werewolf kingdom, Maddox, who didn’t have any intentions of leaving her alone.

Chapter 1

I was running, again, another mile, another forest, between the thousand trees and bushes. Splinters pierced into my skin and I cried heavily. Tears gushed down to my cheeks and onto the wet grounds of the forest. It poured from the skies and from my eyes. My chest became heavy. I barely breathed. Every time I did so, I felt my heart clenching and my lungs throbbing.

Chapter 2

We lived in a small town far by the north called Shakville. The population wasn’t that high but it was increasing day by day. There were two school’s, one for the children and one for the adults. The nearest college or university was a good forty minute drive away from the town. The weather was always terrible around here, storm, rain and harsh winds day and night. The sun barely provided us with any heat. Mother parked her car near the entrance of the school and I hopped right out after giving her my goodbyes.

Chapter 3

“You what?” Josie's eyes widened as she heard what had happened to be earlier in the washroom. I couldn’t hold it in from telling so I did. “You heard a voice?” Shock spread over her face quicker than anything else. “Yes. I thought someone was actually there but there wasn’t anyone. It was a voice in my head.” I pushed my index finger against my hair and explained. “I don’t know. I think I’m going completely crazy.” I sighed and then walked along with her across the pavement.

Chapter 4

After a quick change of my clothes, Mother and I left the house, heading toward Mrs. Harmony’s office. She was a middle-aged woman dealing with teenagers and their traumas. Whilst I didn’t have any past trauma, I currently was going through a difficult time with all the dreams and the nightmares. Mrs. Harmony’s office was small but cozy. There was a fireplace where I often sat again and warmed my hands while speaking to her.

Chapter 5

Dinner was served. The chicken was slightly overcooked but I didn’t mind it as Mom was hustling throughout the day. She had been finishing up her chores and taking me around wherever I needed to go. Right after seeing Mrs. Harmony, we went for a little shopping and then a walk around the house.

Chapter 6

Feel… My attention rose and diverted away from the History book. I took a quick glance around my room, assuring no one was here and no-one was. I was completely alone and only stuck with a voice that I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from.

Chapter 7

I was shaking in fear, my fingers were trembling as I faced the man. I knew I was dreaming, I could feel it. None of this was real. None of it! I needed to find a way to wake up. The man, the stranger, stood tall in front of me. My eyes leveled with his boxed, muscular chest and I found myself to afraid to raise my head and meet with his eyes. Bile began forming in my throat and I swallowed it down.

Chapter 8

For the first time in the longest, I hadn’t screamed, cried or thrashed on the bed. Instead, I jolted up straight, only breathing heavily while looking sideways and ensuring the man wasn’t inside the bedroom still. I waited for a few minutes but his voice didn’t appear in my head and nor did anything else happen. Grabbing a few tissue papers from the side table, I patted the sweat away from my forehead and walked into the washroom to splatter water over my face.

Chapter 9

My eyes widened and every nerve in my body froze as Josie jumped up from the table and straightened herself. She cursed a few times while grabbing her clothes while the boy beside her, turned completely away, hiding his stuff from me. I blinked and turned my head around, letting them dress themselves. The surprise overwhelmed me. I didn’t know what I was walking into until I actually walked into it.

Chapter 10

The entire day, I remained curious about Josie and what she was doing in the chemistry lab. Once school finished, I went home with Dad who picked me up. Unfortunately, I didn’t tell anyone about what had happened last night, not even Josie. I wanted to talk to her but there were other things going on and I didn’t have much time to spill all of the details. When I returned home, I learned Mom was out grocery shopping so I helped Dad unpacking his things in one of the guest rooms in the house.
